What are the key steps in the production process of chicken manure organic fertilizer?

2026/09/29

Chicken manure is a high-quality raw material for organic fertilizer; however, untreated fresh manure contains pathogens and parasite eggs and poses a risk of burning plant roots and seedlings. Only through standardized processing can it be transformed into safe, efficient, and eco-friendly organic fertilizer. The production process for chicken manure organic fertilizer is rigorous and comprises five key steps, each of which directly determines the fertilizer's quality and effectiveness.

The first step is raw material pretreatment, which lays the foundation for fermentation. Fresh chicken manure has high moisture content and an unbalanced carbon-to-nitrogen ratio, requiring the addition of auxiliary materials such as straw, rice husks, or sawdust for adjustment. Materials are mixed according to scientific ratios, with moisture controlled between 50% and 60%—meeting the standard where the mixture forms a clump when squeezed by hand, with moisture seeping between the fingers but not dripping. Simultaneously, a compound fermentation inoculant is evenly added to improve the material structure and enhance subsequent fermentation efficiency.
The second step is high-temperature aerobic fermentation, the core stage of production. The mixed materials are piled into fermentation tanks, where an organic fertilizer compost turner regularly aerates the pile to maintain a high-temperature environment of 55°C to 70°C. A high-temperature fermentation period of 7 to 15 days thoroughly eliminates pathogens, parasite eggs, and weed seeds, decomposes harmful substances, and completes the initial transformation of organic matter, thereby preventing secondary fermentation and seedling burn during later application.
The third step is static maturation to stabilize the fertilizer's nutrients. After high-temperature fermentation, the material undergoes a 7-to-10-day static maturation period to slowly complete the deep decomposition of organic matter. This process balances nutrients, reduces moisture content, eliminates fermentation odors, stabilizes the fertilizer's properties, and enhances the longevity of its fertilizing effect; it is a crucial transitional stage for ensuring quality.
The fourth step is crushing and screening to refine the material quality. Since matured material tends to clump, it is finely crushed using a half-wet material crusher and then passed through screening equipment to remove impurities and large, incompletely fermented chunks. Screening for uniform, fine-textured material ensures fertilizer purity and application consistency, thereby enhancing the product's appearance and performance.
The final stage involves granulation and packaging to complete the production process. Powdered fertilizer is processed into granules using a new type organic fertilizer granulator; subsequent drying and cooling steps improve storage stability, followed by automated weighing and sealed packaging. Standardized packaging protects against moisture and spoilage, facilitating transport, storage, and field application.
This comprehensive organic fertilizer production process transforms chicken manure into a valuable resource, simultaneously addressing pollution from livestock farming and yielding eco-friendly organic fertilizer that improves soil quality and boosts crop yields—an excellent model for circular ecological agriculture.
