Production Process of Sheep Manure Organic Fertilizer

Sheep manure is a recognized high-quality raw material for farmyard manure, characterized by high organic matter content, a loose texture, and mild nutrient release. Through standardized processing, it can be transformed into premium, pollution-free organic fertilizer with long-lasting effects. The production process adheres to eco-friendly principles; through scientific fermentation and refined processing, it effectively resolves issues such as crop damage caused by raw manure, pest and disease proliferation, and odor nuisances. This enables the resource utilization of livestock waste and supports the development of ecological agriculture. Utilizing a professional sheep manrue organic fertilizer production line, the complete process comprises four core stages.

Raw material pretreatment is the foundational step. Fresh sheep manure is collected and screened—both manually and mechanically—to remove impurities like plastic, stones, and weeds, ensuring material purity. As fresh sheep manure has an unbalanced moisture content and carbon-to-nitrogen ratio, auxiliary materials such as crushed corn stalks or rice husks are added to adjust its properties. Specialized fermentation strains—such as EM bacteria and Bacillus subtilis—are introduced, supplemented by a small amount of corn flour to provide nutrients for the microbes. Finally, the moisture content is adjusted to 50%–60% (verified by the "squeeze test": the material forms a clump when squeezed, crumbles upon release, and shows moisture between the fingers without dripping). The mixture is blended thoroughly and set aside, laying a solid foundation for subsequent fermentation.
High-temperature aerobic fermentation is the critical core stage. The prepared materials are stacked into long windrows (1.5–2 meters wide and 0.8–1 meter high) for aerobic decomposition. During the initial phase, microbial populations multiply rapidly, causing the material temperature to rise. An organic fertilizer compost turner is used to regularly turn the windrows, supplying oxygen to maintain microbial activity and ensure thorough decomposition. The temperature is controlled and maintained between 55°C and 65°C; this sustained high heat effectively eliminates insect eggs, pathogens, and weed seeds, ensuring harmless processing. The entire fermentation cycle lasts approximately 15 to 20 days, during which ventilation, temperature, and humidity are precisely managed to prevent odors associated with anaerobic fermentation. Decomposition is complete when the material turns dark brown, becomes odorless, and acquires a loose texture.
The decomposed material then undergoes refined deep processing. First, a half-wet material crusher is used to pulverize the agglomerated material, ensuring the particles are uniform and fine. Next, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and mineral elements are added in appropriate proportions based on crop growth requirements to balance nutrients and compensate for the limited nutrient profile of sheep manure alone. After blending thoroughly, the mixture is processed into uniform granules using a new type organic fertilizer granulator, thereby enhancing fertilizer utilization and ease of handling. The granules then pass through a dryer and a cooler to reduce moisture content and prevent molding or clumping. Finally, screening equipment is used to select qualified granules while removing fine powder and oversized particles.
The process concludes with packaging and warehousing the finished product. The screened, high-quality sheep manure organic fertilizer granules undergo quality inspection before being quantitatively packaged, sealed, and labeled with information such as nutrient content, production date, and suitable crops. The finished fertilizer is clean, free of impurities, and offers stable efficacy; it is widely applicable to fruit and vegetable cultivation, landscaping, and field crops. It not only improves soil structure and fertility but also facilitates a circular agricultural system—integrating livestock and crop farming—to boost income in an environmentally friendly manner.
This entire organic fertilizer production process is simple, efficient, and eco-friendly, transforming waste sheep manure into a value-added product and serving as a key driver for the sustainable development of ecological agriculture.
