How to Extend the Service Life of a trough type Compost Turner

2026/04/25

As a core piece of equipment in organic fertilizer production and manure treatment, the trough type compost turner operates under high loads for extended periods in complex conditions. Its service life directly impacts production efficiency and operating costs. To effectively extend equipment life, it's essential to focus on standardized operation, daily maintenance, troubleshooting, and environmental protection to prevent problems before they occur and ensure long-term stable operation.

Standardized operation is the foundation for extending lifespan. Operators must undergo professional training and strictly adhere to operating procedures, avoiding sudden stops, sharp turns, and other violations. Overloading and starting with material are strictly prohibited. Before operation, check the track flatness, transmission component tightness, and blade wear. Pre-treat materials to remove stones, metal, and other debris to prevent damage to equipment components. During operation, control the travel speed and turning frequency, adjusting parameters according to material characteristics to reduce component wear.
Daily maintenance is crucial. Focus on maintaining key components, regularly checking the cleanliness and level of hydraulic oil, and replacing hydraulic oil and filters according to specifications to prevent oil contamination that could lead to hydraulic system malfunctions. For transmission components such as chains and bearings, regularly clean impurities, apply special lubricating grease, and adjust tension promptly. Replace components immediately if wear exceeds the limit. After operation, thoroughly clean the equipment surface and remove any residual material from blades and troughs to prevent drying and corrosion.
Timely troubleshooting can prevent minor damage from becoming major repairs. During operation, closely monitor the equipment's sound and temperature. If abnormal noises, overheating, or sluggish movement occur, stop the machine immediately for inspection. For common faults such as slow hydraulic lifting, uneven tumbling, and deviation, promptly investigate and address the causes to prevent further damage to core components such as motors and tool holders. Establish equipment operation records, conduct regular comprehensive inspections, and replace easily worn parts such as belts and blades in advance.
Environmental protection is crucial. Store the equipment in a dry, well-ventilated area, avoiding direct sunlight and rain. Apply rust-preventive oil to exposed metal parts; in coastal areas, strengthen anti-corrosion measures. When the equipment is idle for extended periods, periodically start it up under no-load to maintain good component performance.
The lifespan of a trough-type compost turner is not fixed. Only by adhering to scientific maintenance and standardized operation, and paying attention to every detail, can we effectively reduce the occurrence of failures, extend the service life of the equipment, reduce operating costs, and provide a stable guarantee for large-scale production.
